The first ever UK Girls Ride Day took place on Saturday 17th July at Quayside Wakeboard & Waterski. With over 25 girls riding, and many more in tow, the place was overflowing with ladies! We had exclusive use of the cable for girls only, prize giveaways from O’neill and Kesvegas, free drinks from Relentless, demo boards from Hyperlite, plenty of hotdogs, games and of course a great playlist!
I had a blast this weekend. The sun was shining and everyone came out to play; it was England at it’s best. There is nowhere in the world I would rather have been.
Taking my folks out on the boat reminded me of the good old days, when my dad would pick my brother and I up from school, take us straight to the lake and together we would spend all night out on the water. Those days were gold.
Somedays it can feel like wakeboarding has become too familiar; almost like a routine. But its moments like this; seeing my Dad stoked be out on the lake again, teaching my girlfriends how to ride system 2, and just being at the lake, seeing all the happy people enjoying the sunshine and the water, that keep the stoke alive.
I have a feeling that the summer of 2010 will be a GREAT one; whether its sizzling hot or pouring with rain, it will undoubtedly be this: GREAT friends, GREAT riding, GREAT times.
